Lake Arlington report 4/9

Hit Lake Arlington today from about 1pm-3pm. Very sunny, light wind. My first outing of the year.

Tried crawlers for bass in both the northwest and southwest corners, by the walls. Nothing. The southwest pool by the wall is usually a great bass spot, but not today. Maybe it was too sunny and they were driven to deeper water. Picked up about 8 bluegills on a small black mini-mite. The gills were more active in the north pool than the south. Surprisingly, there were few anglers on the lake today. Maybe they were all there this morning before I arrived.

I was out today fishing for bluegills, caught about 25 in an hour. They were very active, caught on a jig and waxworm. I'm still in disbelief at the size of these things because one year ago, they weren't worth the time to fish for...saw one guy pull in a nice bass and another with a huge channel cat which he threw in his bucket. The catch and release isn't posted anywhere so how the hell is anyone supposed to know that you can't keep the fish? Of course I don't (wouldn't if i could) but how is anyone else to know anyways, Nice report! How is Lake zurich fishing by the way? Can you launch a boat anywhere?
At Lake Zurich, I've only fished off the Main St promenade. I like it because it's walking distance from my house. I've caught a few small bass, lots of gills, and a few carp. It's technically a private lake; if I'm not mistaken, there is no public boat launch. You can rent boats from a place at the end of the promenade, but I hear it's crazy-expensive. $20 a person, something like that. I'd like to get out there on a boat someday. I hear it's a great lake for bass and pike. They stocked a small number of tiger muskies about 2 years ago as well.
