Has anyone tried fishing for rainbow trout at Lake Atwood in Cary, IL? I heard that they stock it with trout in the spring but only when there are funds available to do so. I checked some older posts but didn't find anything about the trout.

They do stock it in the spring.
Opening day (& much of the first week) is shoulder-to-shoulder fishing. My guess is that all those trout are fished out shortly after opening. I'm out there on a little boat all the time & I don't ever see trout.
You'll see a lot of bass there, but I've never seen or heard of anything real big coming out.

My wifes parents live over that way and I stopped by once to check out the lake. ULTRA clear water. If you go there for the trout stocking, I would recommend going with very subtle tactics.

trout fish with power bait. personally i think screw the trout. the crappie and bas actions much better.
the slab in my avatar was 2lb caught from the hollows on trout opening day. but i cant give up my spot. :lol:
