Hey guys, long time lurker, first time poster!

Going to Montrose next week to fish off the harbor. What's hitting right now? Anyone been out there lately?

Also, when do the Perch start biting, are they still deep?

Thanks.

This time of year is all about the kings and the browns. You can use spawn sacks but I prefer cleos and krocs in the harbors. Blue/silver, green/silver, and glow-in-the-dark spoons are always a big hit. I never went after the perch so I can't help you there.

If I were you, I'd hit the inner horseshoe and float some spawn if you got some and target chromes. The boats are also leaving, so you can begin casting smaller spoons around the docks in the inner harbor if you find yourself walking that way.

Perch won't be around until Thanksgiving. Yup, mark my words, Thanksgiving. However, most of the perch that show up at montrose are dinks. Navy pier would be your best bet for some eaters

Yep pretty much what's hitting are browns, steelies and some coho. The kings are pretty much in there final days. I have done well with the perch in December in the harbor fishing of the docs but like Mplant said mostly dinks but you do get keepers ( 10"+) and welcome to the site.

Karen love the avatar pretty funny

What about 95th street this time of year
From shore?

That pier by the swim area has some deeper water off the end but its not as deep as Navy pier or Montrose.

Even 63rd St has lots of rocks and access but the water needs to cool off.

When they are in close for casting starting in November
all the piers should produce fish.

For those non-fish eaters....

If ya catch a bunch over 10" and are thinking of letting them go call me.

I'll do the right thing by panfrying them in cajun spice and beer batter.
During cooking we'll tip a pint to ya and say thanks!
