Really no signs? There used to be signs.
me and my friends where looking for new water to fish and stumbled on this website. we saw lake glenview and decided to take a drive the next day before we hit the lagoons as i have never fished either. I went back and looked at the websites report as well as the lake info. I saw nothing about the lake not being open from may15 to november. I love the idea of protecting the spawn. that's awesome! when we got there we didn't see the signs until walking the lake. so when we did, we got up out! not a big deal as we didn't need the trouble. so we went to skokie lagoons of our plan "B" for the trip. my point is i have never heard of glenview lake until i saw this website. also, others may have had the same situation as I.

In fact I don't even know if the fish in there are really spawning that well. They stock that lake on a regular basis and I haven't really seen any small bass or walleye in there. They all seem to be stocked fish that grew up. Anyone else ever see baby fish in there???
when i walked the shoreline I saw tons of places for these fish to spawn. and in my opinion the northern would weed out the herd and make for a decent big bass factory. love the structure all around the lake as a whole and cant wait for may 15th.

They don't do it to protect the spawn. It's actually a pretty stupid rule. When the Glen was built up the residents didn't want there to be any fishing allowed in the lake at all. I guess they felt that fisherman would only dirty the place up. In a complete compromise with the residents it was decided that people could fish, but only for 6 months out of the year. So they came up with an arbitrary May 15th to November 15th season. Leave it to the rich and snooty to keep the fisherman down. :(
it makes sense what you say clancy since it would probably be right in the middle of spawn when it opens.
