Thursday looked like the last day of the acceptable weather, so I put aside work (it's going to cost me) and loaded up the kayak. The temperatures may have been in the 70ies, but it was windy, and plain chilly on the water, wearing thermal layer and long sleeves turned out to be a good idea. With some I paddled downstream against the wind. Saw a really nice buck who was not scared of me whatsoever.
Just like last time out I tossed dark jig into the structure, got a couple of big hits but did not connect. I did not do much better upon arriving to my designated fishing area - it took a couple of hours before the first fish - a pike hit a crankbait. Not a huge one at 25", but super thick, clearly it has been gorging on baitfish. That was pretty much was the only fish until I decided to head back upstream. I put on a black/blue chatterbait and immediately connected to a couple of decent bass, the larger on at 15". There wasn't any time to try it in other spots. I got back to launch at the sunset, and left the parking lot when it was almost dark. The kayak is now in its winter position, most of the lures are packed up, and there's almost enough space in the garage to move the car back in.
