I was looking on Ebay at some Loomis Fly Rods and was amazed on the prices. Try Ebay and im sure they have some used in good condition Loomis or Croix Spinning Rods. You might be better off going towards the Loomis since St. Croix only has a 2 year warrenty on there premier series and the 5 year warranty on the Abbot series. Loomis is a Lifetime warranty and they will not even ask you questions or give you problems about it like St. Croix has in the past. I have a broken St. Croix with the warranty up on it. St croix will not replace the rod :( . I just thought I would point that out so you don't get caught up with a rod that might have a hairline crack in the eye or rod. Especially if you are going to buy one used on Ebay. Loomis is a good route to go! I hope everything goes well and good luck with the Rod Search.

Paypal on Ebay is a quick and efficient way to buy things. Give it a shot! 8)

I was a big fan of St. Croix til I've had a couple breaks on occasions that didn't deserve a break. Now I'm leaning to the upper end Shimano Rods. Plenty of sensitivity in the higher ends Shimanos to steer away from the stereotypical reliance on what St. Croix...had to offer in the past. IMHO.

Shimano Crucials Kick Ass!!! I just don't like the small Guides that are on the spinning rods. Johny has them at Lees Bait n' Tackle for $139.99 Check em out RootPro, It is around the same price you can buy a USED Loomis Rod. They are also Lifetime Warranty!

FishTech on Dempster in Morton Grove has the St Croix Legend Tournament rods on sale (the 2007 model) for around $150. I just picked one up for the bait casting reel that I've yet to make a decision on. LOL, kinda like having a new guitar but no strings.

The selection was alright, like I said, it is some sort of closeout sale on the legend tournament series '07 (the blue ones). It's their second best line and they come with a lifetime warranty. I think they probably have about 20 rods left marked down from $220 to $150. They range anywere from casting rods of different lenghts and action and also spinning rods. I think I nabbed the last 6'6" MH casting rod. But several are still available. It's definately worth taking a look for the $70 discount, the lifetime warranty, and the performance (or so I've read) of the croix rods.
