Hi all;

I posted a report stating that I was going to try Shabbano this weekend with a buddy from Central Indiana. Since I have posted that topic, and based on what I am being told, Shabbona is brutel and has really gone down hill for bassin.

We have decided to can that idea and do some puddle jumping from pond to pond because as you all know, we want to catch some bass, and not just bass, some monster pond bass.

I am figuring we will start out in my neighborhood where the fishing is great with 3 to 5 lb bass being caught last year and this year already.

What I want to know is, can anyone give up some information on honey holes (ie: Ponds, Forest Preserves, Neighborhood ponds) where there is excellent action with large bass being caught? This information will strictly stay with me and not get posted or communicated to anyone.

I want to impress upon my friend from Central Indiana how good we have it here in the Chicagoland area with all the forest preserves and neighborhood ponds when it comes to bassin. I love this area as Iam originally from Central Indiana and there is no such thing as forest preserves or neighborhood ponds that have anything worth while in catching. The only thing you can do is fish the lakes in the area and that takes a boat, or know someone that has a boat or owns a farm pond that you can fish.

I live in the Plainfield area and I am willing to drive, but looking for something between joliet thru naperville to army trail road

let me know here or with a private message

Idunno if people are willing to give up honey holes... Its one thing to ask for advice and techniques and another to ask for honey holes esp ponds...
I suggest exploring. there are plenty of bodies of water that have some good fish in them, you just have to put the time and effort in to find them.
good luck

you'd be surprised how little neighborhood ponds can produce decent bass. i look for ponds that have clear water and already have significant amounts of green weeds developed. the bass have been the calmer areas of the ponds (away from the wind) and extremely shallow. topwater has been the most productive.

That sounds like my type of fishing, I love catching them right up on shorline. But I guess im just chicken. Im scared to fish in peples backyard ponds, even though they are likely public land.
Ive been hitting Busse and havent even caught one fish there yet :roll: I guess Im wasting my time? I think my spot is getting hit hard before I get there because ive seen alot of unfamiliar faces there. This week im hitting a pond at Roosevelt and 355, its on the s side and has a riprap bank with a exercise trail. Ill report if I get skunked, otherwise assume its loaded with bass LOL.
