Is it a bad idea to hook the bait like rapalas, spinners, cranks, etc directly onto the swivel so that I can quickly switch to/from different types of bait?

Yea, you can use duolock snaps instead.

it can change the action on a lot of baits.

example: crankbaits.... it could have a tight wobble when tied directly to split ring...and a wide wobble when snapped on a snap.

Swivels should only be used on lures that twist in the water like inline spinners. For other things, I like to use a duolock snap. :wink:

yeah go with snaps. swivels for things you don't mind spinning around.

I use swivels on my lipless crankbaits and I catch quite a few fish on them so I don't think they are a problem.

I don't mess with the swivels. I've gotten pretty good with my knots, so the change up doesn't take too long. As BPM suggested, a clinch or palomar are easy to execute.

Just signed up with you guys after checking out the site for a fews days... Tons and tons of knowledge shared-really great site. I have used the duolock a couple of times and wasn't sure if that was the right thing to do-guess I wasn't far off..
