so i took the boat out this afternoon, wanted to test 3 reels i rebuilt or fixed using other reels parts, mostly bail springs, different manufacturers spool and one i couldnt remember why i stopped using. and to find some more bass spots. got out at 2:30 , spent the first 30 mins rigging and testing . all seemed to work fine. temps in the mid 60s, part sunny, mostly cloudy, winds W at 15-25 with gusts water still high from all the rains about a foot.figured id use the wind to my advantage and fish spots that might stack up fish, and shallow spots where the weeds were now covered. moved to first spot to try to find a few stumps now covered that seemed to hold bass most times and just couldnt do anything right! couldnt locate 1st stump tilll i ran into it, ruined that spot , took 20 mins to zero in on 2nd and on first cast the snagged it and the knot slipped and my floating lure floated away ,but instead of going after it made some casts around it to see if there was any fish , then stuck my thumb with a hook bleeding pretty good. spent 20 more mins tracking down the escaped lure. then couldnt find the spot again :x moved back to first spot found it and made a few bad wind blown casts and then hooked my other rod with a cast and broke off my chatterbait and lost it. tried to snagg it with another rod and that rod slipped out of my hand and started sinking, soaked my shirt grabbing it . gave up on these spots and moved to a shallow flat and finally landed a 12' bass (my 100th fish of the year) only took1-1/2 hours. got another 12"bass 15 mins later. gave the first spot another try after some searching,i know theres a bass there. got my casts right despite the wind and finally connect on my spinnerbait and land a 18" 3.2 lber. now im feeling better
tried the other spot again but nothin so i left hit some shallows , nada. crossing the lake to another stump filled spot i stopp mid lake to try a walleye ledge and connect with a small eye on a rattle trap the gears of the reel grinding pulling the 13" .8lb in with the most twisted back ive ever seen
. now i remember why i stopped using that reel  switched reels tied the trap back on and next cast caught a 14" 1 lb eye then no more . tried 2 more new spots with no luck and headed back after 4 hours. got 3 bass and 2 walleye and my 100 th fish of the season. that first 2 hours sucked but the 2nd 2hours made up for it. and 2 of the 3 reels worked fine
