I was looking at a coupe rods labeled as such:

Med Hvy/Medium and the other was Med Lt/Fast. I'm guessing the first part is the "gage" of the rod and it's strength? But the Action part I'm not sure about...? Seems like the same thing, but please explain for me.

I believe The secound part is the action of the rod. Fast action bends mainly at the tip more its more responsive and sensitive and quicker, stronger hook sets. Med action bend a little furter down the rod and slow even further these rods act more as a shock absorber for bigger fish or make good rods for trolling.

Power is the amount of force needed to make it bend light will bend more than heavy.

So a light action rod with a fast taper would bend alot but mainly at the tip.
