Finally got to get this picture downloaded so I can post. Went out after the previous day of catching my biggest bass to date. Woke up at 5am-way to early but I was feeling lucky.... It was sunny and water was calm and was throwing 4 inch black and yellow bps worm on 2/0 hook... Got a few bites but none set so after awhile I tossed nightcrawler on a 2/0 hook and was casting out to the weed edges and hitting the pockets. I got a few small bass no bigger than 10 inches. Then I got another decent size lmb casting the same way. Not to bad, 4 LMB and gaining more confidence with the plastics but still find it pretty overwhelming with all the choices and techniques.....

I also saw something that I have never seen. I hooked into a couple of bluegills and while reeling it in, about 5 feet from shore this bass shoots out of a weed bed and starts going after it. The bluegill was about 6 inches and the bass was a pretty good size. This same bass did this twice- and yes I was casting everywhere around that weed bed but he would not bite... :(

Nice Bass, Thanks for the report. Yea the bass will get protective at times and strike in agression, protection, or hunger on bluegills. There were a few reports this year of a gill or crappie stuck in a bass throat when landed. Just the tail will be sticking out. Pretty cool stuff though!

Glad your getting the hang of some artificials. I need to get out soon! Thanks again for the report! :D

Nicely done man! There's no better reason to wake up at 5am than to go fishing on a beautiful morning like that... :) I wonder if you could have caught a small Blue Gill, rigged it with hooks, and then cast it out as bait... wonder if the Bass would have hit that.
