Sorry to hear you didn't get anything. I though at least pike started to spawn or be in pre-spawn mode when water was 38 however; it turns out eyeballs and pike spawn in similar temps. The magic number seems to be 46-52 degrees and the water can't even be close to that yet. We need some warm sunny days for sure to bring up the temps about 8 degrees. I will be watching closely and We will get out when that temp hits the magic number. Good to hear you and to boy got out. If we wind up getting out he's welcome to come.

I am hoping to get out this Sunday as well. I don't really care what temps will be and hopefully the longer days get some fish in a better mood. I know that longer days get me in a better mood so why not the smallies and eyeballs!!!!! :D

I would definitely wait to do any yakking and paddle up stream. The current was manageable on just north of Ferson Creek but the farther north we got, the more the flow increased. Right at the mouth of Ferson Creek we were trolling and I was going 1.3-1.5mph at idle and up at the first island I was a a quarter throttle and barely holding 1.5-1.6mph. My boat is not a cigarette but will do 38mph wot so that will tell you how fast the river was moving. GPS speed just drifting just south of the first island read anywhere between 3.0-4.0mph. Water temps were also very low at 34-36.5 degrees makes sense though with the temps we have been experiencing at night and barely getting to the thirties during the day with no sun.
