Night Fishing

Thanks to the daylight savings time switch and the stupid FPD rules about closing at sunset, I will really have no chance to fish during the week because I don't get home til 5:30 from work. Just wondering if there are any good night fishing spots near Des Plaines, especially catfish holes?

twin lakes (the donut) is open until 10 or 11 i believe. but that could be summer hours. you also have to purchase a seperate fishing license from them in addition to the illinois license.

lake arlington supposedly is fishable until 11. again, this may be summer hours.

but probably your best bet for some action is waukegan harbor. fishable 24/7 !!

i'm sure there are other waters as well.
Tell me about it! Makes me crazy to not to be able to fish after werk even if its only once a week. I would try the Des Plaines River, there has got to be some spots that the FP doesnt close.
There is still some salmon and trout action going on along the Lake Michigan lakefront. I was down by the Shedd Aquarium last night and there were plenty of anglers out.

Also, November brings some perch back to the harbors. A few of us had some perch outings last November in the evenings and did ok.

I was thinking the same thing. Perch season is just around the corner! These early sunsets are driving me nuts too. I haven't been out since the WCF trout outing at Axehead on the 21st. :x
My DP river spot is pretty inaccessable right now because of the contruction on Dempster/Miner and I don't wanna explain to the cops why I'm walking through a construction zone. I might take a bike ride throught the neighborhood to see if there are any spots to try out.
I also suggest Lake Michigan. The king season is started to end...maybe like 1 more week left. But, the steelhead and coho, along with the occasional browns are starting to come in. Hot spots have been the pipe at Burnham and Belmont and Dusable Harbor. Spawn or shrimp on a float about 2-3 feet down works best.
