I went out for a couple of hours last week in the evening, on July 3rd, with a swim jig, a frog, and a Wacky Rig. Fished and caught nada. I know guys have been catching skinny Walleyes, but I didn't have the right stuff for that. Anyway, the carp were still spawning, the water was muddy and pea soup color, and the level was down. I think that Lake Glenview is not worth the effort anymore, which is a drag because I can do a quick run to it in the evening. I may give it one more shot in the fall.

I agree, it used to working for me but now not so much.

Went there like 6/30 and tossed my green senko into all my likely spots and nada.

Ran into a Russian? guy tossing a frog. Nothing lately for him either. He said his buddies only caught Walleye on live bait.

So I think I'm done there too.

Too hard to have success out there on shore. it's so shallow so far out that by the time you get to any decent drop off your retrieve is already over.

Cranky, as you know it's close for me, too and it's always in my consideration list, but I have no confidence there. Maybe I'll give it one shot before the summer is over. I'll keep my expectations low.

I'm not going to create a separate post about a skunk outing at the Glen, but I made a quick trip there yesterday evening (6/24/20) with the wife and daughter. I have never been there. It's actually closer to my house than Beck or the Goons. Pretty area, definitely. We walked around a bit, me checking out likely spots naturally! Met a guy fishing out at the end of the long pier. He said he was using a baitcaster for the first time. He had a jig with a fluketail but I didn't see him get anything.

I ran back to my car and grabbed my rod and tied on a buzz bait. Just fished the south end bay off of Chestnut. Hit the edges of lily pads and shadowed areas along the wall. Nada. There was a guy on the wall next to me, helping his young sons fish. Kind of cute. One of them actually pulled in a chunky hand-sized bluegill and was thrilled. Another fisherman for life, I have no doubt! I didn't want to bore the family so I just worked a stretch of the south bay for about 20 minutes and then we left.

Lake appears to be pretty shallow in most areas, even out at the end of the long pier. I didn't fully understand the designated fishing area signs. They are posted in various locations but I'm not sure how much area they're supposed to cover. At the end of a bridge (the first one you come to on the right if you walk up toward the long pier from the south end) there was a patch of lily pads. It looked like a likely spot and there was a worn trail leading down to it, but I'm not sure if it's off limits for fishing. Could also be way too shallow. I'll have to check the signs and a map more closely the next time I go. It's a pretty area for what it is and probably looks more promising than it actually is.

Believe it or not, most of the lake is an 18ft deep pit. Of course there are several areas much more shallow. My best fish there was a tiger musky a couple of years ago. They've stocked a handful of those over the years. There's also some walleye.
