Wife wanted to get out & enjoy the great weather yesterday and with Beck being unproductive lately, the Lagoons seemed like a good option. Wanted to grab the canoe, but it was too much of a production for mid-afternoon. Fished from 3:30-5:30, winds howling out of the SW, and was it CROWDED. Drove around for about 20 minutes looking for a decent spot to fish from shore (that wasn't flooded still) where she had room to cast & lay-out in the sun, and was about to give up when I found an ideal spot that was getting pounded by waves and had a "neck down area" that created some current--- wood, rocks, & weeds present. Grabbed some crawlers so she could bobber-fish, but she ended up enjoying the sun the whole time and was content with spending some time with me and watching me catch fish. Ended up with about a dozen bass between 6-12" on a mix of crawlers, cranks & jigs, which wasn't great but was still some action considering I was confined to one spot where I'm normally constantly moving, looking for schools of fish. It at least proved to the wife that I'm not ALWAYS lying when I say I catch fish, especially since my biggest bass was on my 1ST cast. Was hoping for some Walters, especially since the area I was fishing looked promising, but all I could manage were some light taps on a jig & crawler, which very well could've been some light-biting 'eyes. Did have a decent "eater-size" eye up to shore on Shad-Rap but he shook me off. Needless to say, my future Beck outings are now being switched over to Lagoon outings. I did well there last year with the eyes & feel I can replicate my success this year, just need more time to get out there more. All in all a great way to enjoy the weather and spend some time with my honey-baby. As always boys, good fishing.
