Earlier this evening I got out at 8:20p.m. On the bike and fished until 8:40 p.m. I didn't have much time at all but I did manage a bass. It hit on a tube Jig while it was falling on the first cast. From there I switched to shallow diving white crank bait and hooked 3 landing none. I lost the crank bait to a snag and started throwing a white spinner bait second cast under some trees and I had a monster hit, And I mean The best and hardest hit I've ever got while bass fishing. I Set the hook hard and the fight was on It jumped out of the water and I was amazed at the size of this bass It was a good 4 pounds. While bringing it in He wrapped around something so I let the line go and figured he'd swim his way out, He did swim away but then when I pulled back to see If I got him out he'd go directly back in the snag. So walking to my left to see if I can get him out that way the line just got loose. Felt like someone cut it with a sharp knife... But that isn't the worse part not only did I lose a great bass for the Chicago river 5 minutes later My Friend jumps straight out of the water Spinner bait in mouth adding insult to injury. I wasn't as concerned about losing him as I was about him surviving it will be hard for it to feed Hopefully it manages to some way fall out of its mouth. Very unlikely but I would love for this fish to survive so I can get another chance at it!
Great report. He'll get it out or die tryin! Actually, depending on how it was hooked he will likely work it loose in short order. I've been amazed at how many fish I have gotten a good hook set on that have tossed the hook with a good arial flip.
