My first time getting a line wet since November. SO nice to see open water and cast for awhile. Unfortunately the fish wanted nothing to do with my lures. Perhaps all the rain had them shut down. Nice to get out nonetheless.

Then traveled over to a lake in GLENview for a few minutes. Same thing.

No, the fish are lethargic because of the cold water. Just a week ago, I was watching those lethargic fish on my Vexilar, jiggling and wiggling my bait in front of them, trying hard to just get them to nibble. Now it's a week later, but what's changed? The water is roughly the same temp and we zoom our baits through the water, hoping for hot action.

Everyone's so eager for the ice to melt. I'm not because I hate March - it sucks! Either the ice has melted or it is unsafe, but the fishing has not taken off because of the cold water. At least with ice fishing I can stand on those fish all day, watch them on my screen and get some of them to bite.

I tried a pond Friday, without a bite. I tried 3 spots on the Fox this afternoon, skunked at all 3. I was supposed to do Navy Pier tomorrow, but the storms are causing a change of plans...

I've had a good march so far but lately It has been tough... 3 Skunks straight  since the rain. But i don't think it's even possible when so much debris is flowing along the river

I've Definitely Learned When I know the fish will be LEAST Active this year..

But April's soon to be here

Great job getting out jason!

Keep them coming

I agree with Ron. This weather is pretty nasty. I went out to a pond Saturday and got skunked, it was in the 40s and I also got soaked in the rain. I was thinking if it was the tail end of the season and not the beginning I probably woulda stayed inside, but I had to get my line wet. But just knowing the ice is off and I can partake in one of my favorite hobbies was enough for now.

Last year I was catching bass when there was still ice on half the ponds. But I remember it being extremely sunny that day. Around here the last "full" sunny day was Friday and we still had ice on a majority of the ponds. We need a good warm sunny day.

I got out to Braidwood on Sunday Morning. Fishing the North Launch Ramp. Things were somewhat good. All fish were Dink Kittie Kats. Seems though Braidwood is good in the early Morning hours right before daybreak. I had a 2 pound cat around 630. The weather out there was brutal. Rain most of the day with Severe Thunderstorms and a Tornado Warning in Kankakee County. It didnt close the door on me though. Sat out there and fished a solid 4 hours.

Tried local pond yesturday. Pitching a Jig, and Finesse Worming a Senko. Nothing though. Need a string of 60 Degree days for everything to turn on.
