Got out for a couple hours at local Kendall County pond. Weeds were already at where they are the 2nd week of June so I had to look around to find some good lanes/areas for the poppers. I missed a couple before relaxing and letting the fish suck the bait down. I used a 7 foot St. Croix Premier MH fast action paired with a Stradic C14 which I bought from DCfish a month or so ago. I can already tell this is going to be a great Lake Geneva trolling rod this summer.
As for the fishing, they generally were not right up on the bank. In a few areas the weeds/grass were growing out of the water 30+ feet from the bank. Most of the blowup came of those edges. The water clarity was super clean which I think had something to do with it. Caught 8 or 9 and missed about a half dozen more. In 2 more weeks it will be too thick for this and be rage toad time.
