Using equipment that is appropriate for the fish and conditions you are dealing with seems to have become somewhat of a lost art IMO.

awesome article big flipper. i think alot of pike anglers think they fish for the toughest fish that wont die no matter how you treat it. in reality, pike are some of the most fragile fish out there and need to be handled with exceptional care.

I've always been a little leary handling them myself. I always thought that their gill plates were like razors...? How do you not lay your hand open? I always see them being held under the mouth were the "V" on their gills come together, or at the top of the head...has anybody elser heard about the dangerous gill plate?
