R.I.P Bobby Rydell, singer and ‘Bye Bye Birdie' star, dies at 79

No idea who he was. Maker of NFL helmets? Rambler's age...maybe he knows who this was.

He probably beat me. 78 is the age I estimate I will croak.
With your music knowledge I find it hard to believe you didn't know who he was. I remember my Mom listening to his music, she would have turned 81 this year.

You scared the crap out of me, Matt, posting in this forum. I thought someone died! At first glance, I thought you said "Ron G, are you going to "do" this?", meaning an obit.

Yes, my son texted me about the concert. Reminds me I forgot to get back to him. It'll be my 78th Kansas concert, starting in 1979. My son's 40th show. I've been seeing them since I was 14. Him, 4 days after his 5th bday. o_O

Since Robby Steinhardt's (Kansas) death last year. Mark Hoppus's (Blink 182, his favorite band) cancer and the bass player's death of Dance Gavin Dance the other week, he's been freaked out to get out and see his favorite artists while they are still around. I recommend anyone else to do the same. Thanks for reminding me. Life is fragile...

It is sad seeing those 80's guys go. I'm sure some of it will from lifestyle habits, but some are reaching the age for natural death too. It is hard to wrap my head around because those guys are still long haired baby faced rockers in my mind.

R.I.P. Ronnie ‘Hawk’ Hawkins

I never heard of the guy. I'm sure Rambler did some shots with him at some point and time. He was a mentor to The Band (which I never liked) and some kind of rockabilly artist.

R.I.P. Alec John Such

Bassist and founding member of Bon Jovi dead at age 70. A few good songs, but with formulaic mediocre bubblegum-metal hits like Bad Medicine and You Give Love a Bad Name, I have a hard time liking them. And the other hand, Styx, Reo and Loverboy in Tinley park last night were awesome!

Is that his tomb???

R.I.P. Jim Seals of Seals and Crofts

Dead at 80. His brother Dan from the fame of England Dan and John Ford Coley is long dead. I did see their kid bro, Brady Seals, playing in Little Texas at the Allstate Arena opening for Travis Tritt.

I liked a couple of their songs, but always thought of Seals and Crofts as a couple of dudes singing with clothes pins on their noses.

R.I.P. Brett Tuggle

I knew him as the keyboard player for the David Lee Roth band when Roth left Van Halen, but I guess he also played for the early Rick Springfield band, Fleetwood Mac and Steppenwolf. Cancer at age 70.

Why are these dead guys always smoking nonstop??

R.I.P. Barry Bailey

Barry Bailey, best-known as the one of the guitarists in southern rock band Atlanta Rhythm Section, has passed away at the age of 73.

ARS was the 2nd concert I attended, way back in late '78 or early '79 in Stevens Point, WI during their heyday for their Champagne Jam album tour. I don't know how many of them are left now as I know singer Ronnie Hammond died of a heart attack and super-obese bass player Paul Goddard passed also.

Bailey died “in his sleep after years of struggling with multiple sclerosis,” reported by Atlanta-based TV station WXIA-TV.

Throughout the years, the band reached several Top 20 hits, including “So in to You,” “I’m Not Gonna Let It Bother Me Tonight,” “Imaginary Lover,” “Do It or Die,” and “Spooky.”

R.I.P Manny Charlton

Nazareth Founding Guitarist, Manny Charlton, Dies

I once won tickets from WCKG to see Nazareth at Hawthorne Race Course in Cicero but never went. I also won tickets another time from WCKG for Molly Hatchet at Hawthorne and didn't attend that one either.

Manny Charlton, the founding guitarist for the Scottish rock band Nazareth, died on July 5, 2022, in Texas, at age 80. The were best known for their hits Love Hurts and Hair of the Dog (now you're messin' with a SOB).

I remember when at around age 10, I'd always stop to look at her albums when at the local department story because I thought she was so pretty. Great voice and career.

R.I.P. Gord Lewis

Gord died by being smashed in the gourd by his own son, Jonathan. Lewis was the guitarist for many decades of the Canadian punk band, Teenage Head.

Gord is the one with sunglasses.
