R.I.P.
Doobie Brothers Drummer and Cofounder John Hartman Dead at 72

I'm sorry but I never liked this band. I never understood the two drummer thing either. A drummer + a percussionist, yes, but two drummers?

R.I.P. Jerry Lee Lewis

Unlike what TMZ reported about 4 days ago, he is dead this time. The jock itch guy. Great Balls of Fire. Very similar to Johnny Cash the hemorrhoid man with Burning Ring of Fire.

R.I.P. Aaron Carter

Conflicting reports of whether he was found in his bathtub or in his pool abound. Regardless, adults shouldn't be drowning in the safety of their home. Say no to drugs.

This is the 3rd musician in this thread that my kids have met that have died in roughly the last year. Aaron along with Tim Feerick of Dance Gavin Dance and Robby Steinhardt of Kansas.

R.I.P. Dan McCafferty

Dan McCafferty, the lead vocalist for the hard rock band Nazareth and who voiced 1970s rock classics “Love Hurts” and “Hair of the Dog,” (Now your messin' with a SOB) died Tuesday, Nov. 8, from unspecified causes. He was 76.

Once I won a pair of tickets from WCKG to see Nazareth with McCafferty but never ended up going to the concert.

R.I.P. Christine McVie

Every keyboard player except me had a Yamaha DX7 in the 80s.

Singer/songwriter/keyboard player for Fleetwood Mac is dead at 79. Quite a few of their hits were with her songs. She helped put the Mac into Fleetwood Mac.

Her song "Everywhere" is now playing in the current Chevrolet EV commercials

R.I.P. Irene Cara

Singer/actress Irene Cara is mysteriously dead at age 63. She had a few huge hits with the theme from the Fame movie and Flashdance-What a Feeling which I think stayed at #1 for six weeks. I believe she also won an Oscar for co-composing the song.

Drummer Who Drove the Rascals, Is Dead at 78

His percussion virtuosity was a key to the band’s many hits of the late 1960s, including the chart-topping “Good Lovin’,” “Groovin’” and “People Got to Be Free.”

R.I.P. Lisa Marie Presley -- Dead At 54

Mostly famous because of who her father was, but she did put out some music of her own. Dead of heart failure, just like Elvis and his mother. Very sad news. :(

R.I.P. Robbie Bachman

Drummer for Bachman Turner Overdrive (BTO) died at 69. No details out yet. I saw BTO in concert with Robbie around 1989, oddly enough, on the grounds of the Chicago-Read Mental Health Center. The long time Cook County insane asylum was definitely a nutty place for a show. And it was insane! A couple of biker gangs started brawling mid-set and we got to see bikers getting their heads kicked in by other bikers with big boots. So graphic, I remember the terrible fights more than the concert itself.

R.I.P. David Crosby

Founding member of the Byrds and Crosby, Stills, Nash & (sometimes)Young died at age 81.

Hollyweird is so odd. Lou Diamond (La Bamba) Phillip's wife decided to leave him because she preferred to be in a relationship with singer Melissa Etheridge. The two women decide to have a family but neither could produce the genetic material to do so, so David Crosby donates his sperm allowing the ladies to have a boy and a girl. Maybe accepting sperm from a life long addict was a bad idea because the artificial son died of drug addiction in 2020.

R.I.P. Gary Rossington

Gary Rossington of the Rossington Collins band has died at age 71. Oh, and he was a founding member and guitarist of that little known band Lynyrd Skynyrd. With his passing, there are no originals left in Skynyrd. Just like the Jimi Hendrix Experience, they are all gone. :(
