You can use anything designed for panfish species. I have caught them on many baits but most common that come to mind are 1 inch grubs on 1/16th jigheads, "Pinky" jigs, beetle spins, little mepps spinners, and 3 inch senko's.....to name a few :)

They're decent. They have a dark red lateral line much like a white bass that would be good to fillet out. I don't normally keep them. Up north, they are covered so thick with black grubs it grosses me out. My biggest was 10 1/2".
