does anyone fish the root river or pike river in racine wiscoinsin for salmon???? i got some pics ill upload also later on

I have only fished the mouth of the Root where it enters the Racine marina for Salmon in the fall. I would be interested in fishing for Pike there as well.

fishing the root river is like heaven reason is because most spots are only 15 inches deep holding most of the time 15lb salmon and you can get some 25lb ones in there if ur lucky lol and plus there are tons and tons and i mean tons of fish everywhere u look and especially after a good rain when the water drops back down there are fish all over that u bump into them in the water it is so fun battling them also

Do you have any luck on the root when the salmon aren't spawning? I bet it holds some walleye from time to time.

Looks like a sweet river. I like the area up there, so i'll havta check it out this year. What do think the conditions are like this time of year, rootpro? And what are some pubilc access spots to the root and the pike, if you dont mind sharing them?

ya sure i can let u know more this weekend and plus i would say in about 2 weeks they should have this steelhead facility up and running for steelhead i can give u a ton of info this weekend i will be starting to go up there next weekend on a weekly basis both rivers are basically all public acesss but alot of them are also hidden where u have to wade in the water to get to them

Sweet, root. Thanks. Now I have an excuse to get some waders. Information on where legal parking is would help a lot, too. If I'm up that way this weekend I might look it up on a map and take ride by.

i think im actually going to hit it this weekend because reports from the river have been good calling for some good steelheading action hmmm gimme till tommorow night to find u a map of the river ok thanks

this is a report but they dont keep it updated much http://dnr.wi.gov/fish/lakemich/rootriverreport.htm this site tends to update every week and fishing picks up often and they dont report it

this site is more accurate and it tells u the info straight from the people when u get to the site go to wisconsin then type in under the search in the middle of the page type in root river and it should come up

Yeah, I found that site a few years ago. It is a good site for not only Wisconsin, but the whole midwest region.

islandfisher when will u be going up ther next these next few weeks should be excellent for steelheading tons of fish will probably be seen and caught best bait would to be to drift all spawn under a bober and if the water is a little higher just go without the bobber
