I know that a lot of people complain about the Rosemont show every year. Especially others on some of the other sites. I always enjoy going. Having said that I am probably going to have to go during the week. Most likely on Wednesday.

I agree with big bass the show is pretty bad,now do any of your remember the old fishing show by the stockyards, great show, they had a indian, who would dive in a pool of water, wrestle this alligator, pull him out of the pool, put him on his back and rub his belly, and the gator would lay there. There was also this black bear you could wrestle,he would knock you down and stand over you and lick you face, and also guys in a pool ow water having log rolling contests If you were a kid who lived to see this show

The Rosemont show gets worse every year. I'm going to skip it this year. The West Allis Wi. is the best one to go to for deals. I'm sorry to be a bummer. It's the truth.
If I go to the show it is more for the entertainment value than for the deals. Entry fee, parking, gas, and tolls make just getting in the door over $30 for me. So I look at it now as a place to check things out, pick up a few deals, and spend the afternoon. If I was just looking to for deals I would stick to the BPS and Cabela's sales and the internet deals.

The O'Hare show has been scaling back in recent years.
At one time it was "THE" show.

I think with added pressure from other shows (Tinley, Schaumburg, Hammond and now the one in Lynwood) they know they need to compete and improve.

Its on the list, but more for added value not to go looking for deals.
They did do a parking deal/pass a few years ago which saved $.

The Boat Show at McCormick Place is a better one for seeing everything.
Kids never get bored there..

Plus Tinley show has deals if you talk & shop.

A few years ago i picked up a new flyrod/reel combo for ~$30 and i found line in a bargain bin.
That combo caught fish and stayed in the car so i wasn't worried about bangs/nicks or theft.
I still have it, this year the kids get to use it more.

100% we'll do: Boat RV at McCormick Place, Tinley and Lynwood & ?
50/50 on O'hare, Hammond & Schaumburg..

But instead of O'hare i might try that fish feather expo in Bloomington January 23-25

Rob,
Yes, Tinley is a great show for both quality and the deals you find. Plus it is only $3 and free parking. I'll definitely be there since my club runs the kids casting clinic and has a booth.

I guess the Schaumburg show is supposed to be modeled after the Tinley show. I've heard great things about a Madison show if you were really in the mood.

I am sure that the Tinley show is a good deal and cheaper to boot. But for those of us coming from the north we spend more in gas than what we save to get in. I went to the Schaumburg show several years ago and was very disappointed. I believe that the new show at Deerfield High School is modeled after the Tinley show and it is a lot closer for many of us. It is nice that we have some many options. Starting this week, I believe that there is a show somewhere around here for like the next 6 weeks or so. I never went to the Rosemont show looking for bargains. More to check out the new stuff and get some leads on fishing destinations.

You're right Doc. I mixed up Deerfield and Schaumburg.

i love this show, it does get worse every year but its deff worth going. You always get some sick deals on tackle rods and reels. This year our bass club at Maine West is attending that saturday... should be a ton of fun! Hope to see you guys there. Ill probably be there 3 of the days. I love that show!
