That does sound like a great fight on that tackle. I hooked into a bowfin last week on 4lb test on a light rod, but wasn't able to land the darn thing. That kind of thrill is outstanding though.
As far as the crappie go, I can't tell you. Last year I didn't start targeting them in Lake Glenview until later in the year. I hope that they are still there because I know that a lot of bucket fishermen were taking them out.
I went there last night. I got 1 smaller walleye, maybe 10-11 in. and a bass also about that size. Fished until the storm started. I had minnows, so I was expecting there to be plenty of crappie biting. I also jigged for them with crappie jigs for about a half hour. Ended up with no crappie AT ALL, which I thought was very strange. Sorry, no pics of the other fish, but they were both small, and they both came just before the storm.
