I fixed the trolling motor on the boat, and took it out to Shab to make sure it was running right. What a big difference to be finally running on 24V again!!!!

Ended up with 7 bass and a decent ski. Had around a 5 lb bass give me the fin at the boat :p Also had another drag screamer that I never saw. All the bass landed were b/w 12-14''

Here is the ski

Nice report... I'm actually going to be camping at shabbona for three days starting next friday and then another three days the week after that with some friends. Got any tips Matt? I'm thinking about just buying their 2007 edition map and just figuring out some good locations before I head out there.

p.s.- Have you been intentionally targeting the musky's or have they just been hitting your bass gear? I don't have a clue what artificials to use for the ski's other than those $20 a piece 2X4's i see at bass pro and dicks all the time... :?:

Thanks Guys

MrB's tip is right on. I went to a seminar about a month ago and was able to hear all of Kevin's secrets in person. He is big into the shallow shad raps and big into the NE Bay as well. That is what and where I have had the action on the last 2 times out. I also keep his map in the boat with me whenever I go out there. The fish are still hitting a little slow, but should be on fire when you go out. I would try some half ounce chatterbaits when you are there. The blue/black color matches the shad well. It is a good all around bait for bass and muskie on Shabbona. If you are in the campground you might want to try some chicken livers from shore at night. There are huge cats in there.

Thanks for the advice matt and MrB. Can't wait to get out there. I was actually looking at a bunch of video's of kevin from that website on google video last night. In case you haven't watched them. Just search "shabbona"/"Shabbona lake" on the video section. There are a BUNCH of different 3-4 minute videos of him. Once again i appreciate the help!

No problem man. Kevin definitly is the man out there. I don't get outfished much, but I was out a few weeks ago on the same day as him and he had my number. You will do well if you look at what he recommends. He keeps it really simple, but his results are amazing. Good luck.

See your getting some muskie practice in huh Matt, plan on catching some this weekend :D
I figure the 49 1/2 you caught 2 years ago is around 52'' now. I'll be looking for her all weekend. Hopefully she has forgotten the sting of your Bionic Bucktail 8)

There was a short in one of the wires. Essentially the TM was running off one battery instead of 2. Replaced the wire harness and the recepticle in the front of the boat and she was good to go. I forgot how fast that baby was. I was getting used to always being on top speed going against a strong wind. Now she is cooking on a much lower power. 80 lbs. of thrust is probably about 20 more pounds then I need :p
