My brother and I got on the lake at about 10 AM and fished till 4. Man did the temps drop! It was about 55 when we got there and an hour later it dropped to about 45 and very wind! My brother managed 4 fish with one at 17 inches and I only got 1 at 15 but it was still fun. This was our first time at the lagoons and It won't be our last! His 4 on a yellow/white booya spinner bait and mine on a #3 mepps aglia. This was my catch, his was taken on a digital camera all caught and released!!
Thanks guys. Has anyone else noticed the zebra mussels in the lagoons? I saw some on a stick a brought in from the bottom. Also we saw lots of deer on the shore. Two of them even swam across from one side to the other!
Nice job out there Rich. You guys certainly did hang in there on a tough day.
I know I sound like a broken record, but the Skokie Lagoons are a great place to catch some quality fish. I think what scares a lot of real fishermen away is all the bucketheads during the summer months, all the weeds, and really a lack of quality reports. But with time, knowledge, and patience one can find this place as one of the best for BIG bass, decent northern pike, some great walleye, a few slab crappie, catfish, and bluegill if so desired.
