Here's what I got:

The spring catchable trout season opens on April 1, 2006 at 5 a.m. The press release isn't out yet, but as of right now, it looks like the same places as last spring will be stocked. We should be receiving larger fish than last year, however. I've listed below the places from last year's press release:
Stocked sites (by county) for the spring catchable trout program:
Adams County: Siloam Springs State Park Lake.
Boone County: Mill Race Ponds in Belvidere.
Bureau County: Hennepin Canal Parkway.

Champaign County: Lake of the Woods.
Christian County: Manners Park Pond, Taylorville Park District
Cook County: Axehead Lake, Cook County Forest Preserve District.
Cook County: Belleau Lake, Cook County Forest Preserve District.
Cook County: Sag Quarry East, Cook County Forest Preserve District.

Cons. District.
McHenry County: Piscasaw Creek.
Moultrie County: Wyman Lake in Sullivan.
Ogle County: Pine Creek in White Pines State Forest.
St. Clair County: Frank Holten State Park main lake.

Stephenson County: Waddams Creek (Lake Le-Aqua-Na State Park)
Stephenson County: Yellow Creek in Krape Park, Freeport.
Vermilion County: Clear Lake at Kickapoo State Park.
Wabash County: Beall Woods Lake, Beall Woods State Park
Wayne County: Sam Dale Conservation Area Trout Pond.
Whiteside County: Coleta Trout Ponds.
Will County: Lake Milliken at Des Plaines Conservation Area.
Winnebago County: Kent Creek in Page Park, Rockford.

I'll be at Belleau around 2 p.m. (less people), if anyone wants to meet up with me. I had a great time last time and got my limit in about 15 minutes. 8) It took me a while to figure out this lake, but once you get it, you're all business.

So...who's going? I might just be at Lake Michigan the entire weekend and skip the stocking all together. I'll probably go during the week, since it's so close to my house and avoid all of the people on the weekend.

Chicago Tribune, DNR, and I just drove by Belleau and sadly...it's true. Guess we are just going to have to wait another week!

It's confirmed...

It's official... I spoke to a representative from the Cook County Forest Preserve District and the opener of the inland catchable trout season has BEEN DELAYED UNTIL APRIL 8, 2006. A "snafu" with the company that provides the fish is the apparent cause.
