I bit on a Shakespeare Excursion combo that is a 3 pc rod, 4 if you count taking off the reel ;)

I have absolutely no complaints. Done me good over the last 2 years. Very easy to pop together and I prefer it over any single pc rod, just because I can keep it in my trunk and fish whenever I feel like ;)

Not sure if it would hold up against a monster cat, but it has held it's own on some decent sized bass.

the best two part rod i have is the Berkley Cherrywoods. Its a great rod. Its my main spinning rod. Very strong alot of action and a fair amount of feeling.

Its no G. Loomis but it is excellent for 20$.

The St. Croix Triumph is a great rod. The ultra lite is good for walleye crappie and perch.
