I'm back in Corpus Christi for a few more weeks. Fishing from shore is starting to pick up…though recent freezing temps shut down the bite for a few days.
But today, trout were active. Nothing huge, but I really enjoy the thump they give when I cast a spoon from shore and yo-yo it back in. A smaller redfish and several skipjack (ladyfish? same thing?) also thumped the spoon.
I also missed several, including what I think was a large trout that peeled drag, jumped, and shook the lure. I also tried topwater and a floating/diving crankbait, but no interest in those. Plus I saw sheepshead, jellyfish, turtles, mullet schools, and diving birds. Fun times fishing saltwater!
