Had a hankering to check out the Chain as i usually do once a year. Got a great report from John the owner at Cj SMITHS RESORT. Headed right to the bridge as John told me and found plenty of White Bass with a small minnow and a bobber.By 830 wanted to try for some eyes so i headed to PETITE , tryed in deeper water for 30 minutes with nothing to show for my efforts. By 900am ist started to rain pretty good and by the time i got back under the bridge to seek shelter there were 3 boats alreddy there , we all hung out there for over an hour while it poured at times. Between the 4 boats fishing under there no one caught a fish.Wet and cold i decided to go back out in the drizzle and look for crappies or gills. Found over 50 gills under most piers in channel leading to PETITE using a ice jig and a waxie, Gills were not huge but found a few in the 8 inch class. Unfortunatly could not find a single crappie. Threw a few Muskie lures on Bluff LAKE FOR 15 MINUTES AND DECIDED TO CALL IT A DAY. While i have ahad a good day or two over the years out here , my inexperinced showed today.By the time i got out home the sun actually came out so went over to loval pond threw a buzzbait on and got a nice pike to the end the day , so it wasnt a toal loss.[

Mike,
My brother in law and i were under the bridge with you on monday while it rained. Went out to marie after the rain stopped and caught a nice 19 in ch eye jigging a monnow that unfortuantely had dermal sarcoma virus which means that it had big ugly looking tumors all over its body. It was pretty disgusting looking but in researching when i got home found out most fish will recover.
Headed over to channel lake and had good luck finding gills and crappies underneath the docks using wax worms on mini mites
