Rss and I got loose on Sunday and headed up above the state line for exploring. Water temp was at 37-38 degrees and the level is down about 1 foot. No other boats out so we had the river to ourselves but ended with a fairly slow day. Ron picked up a smallie almost right a way, then I followed with a fish that got loose before I saw it, then another smallie that spit the hook on a tail dance. 0 for 2.

It took till early afternoon before we saw our first and only walleye for the day. It was still nice to get out and scout around with the low water that is clearing up which makes more shore structure visible. Fish were caught on 1/16th weedless jigs with fatheads in about 8 to 12 foot of water. River fish sure can hide well. 8)

I agree, at least you got something. Nice job. :D
Wow, those are some cold water temps JD. With all the traffic you see most of the season, I can see how you enjoy days like that though. Great report.
Thanks Guy's. It was great getting out with no boat traffic and yes, the water is just a few cold days away from ice. 8)
Maybe with this rain, the temps will increase a bit as will the water levels and turn dem eyes on!
