I just picked this up at Dick's. It looks like it would have great action and I can't wait to try it out. Any suggestions on how I should rig it?

That thing looks sort of like the Sweet Beaver that Tim caught that bass on down in Champaign.
Phil, which Dick's did you find these at? I was at the Dick's in Glenview today and couldn't find them.

I got mine at the one in Skokie, by Crown Theater. Never been to the Glenview one...is that the one you can see from the Glen?
Yeah, it's the one in the Glen. The fishing dept. sucks in comparison to the one in Skokie.
ya the glen dicks fishing dept really does suck!

I'm not happy with the one in Skokie either. When I went to go buy my Shimano a while back, I got the last one. The last SHIMANO in the store. They used to have shelves of them. The reel case was basically empty except for a few cheap reels. I told the guy that I was surprised that they don't order more and he told me that it happens every year and the new stock gets in around Christmas time! That's unbelievable that they would do that. Not just reels either...if you walked through the bait area, there was stuff missing off the shelves everywhere. Last week, I went back and they had more lures...which made me spend more money that I wanted to, but they still had no reels. It really surprises me that they wait so long to order more.
That's becouse those are sport stores and people don't think fishing is a sport
You guys should see the one out by me in Algonquin. It makes the skokie store look like BPS. At one point in the summer they were out of yum dingers and gamatsu hooks for a month.
It was agrievating because they also had the yum products on sale but they never had a shipment. So basicially all they had were those 5" bumblebee colored ones. :?
Living 5 minutes from the Dick's in Skokie, I go there a lot. For a big sports store, i'm actually impressed at their fishing section. These big sports stores make their money from apparel and golf and usually have a few big red bobbers, a Zebco 202, and a box of asorted flies! But Dick's in Skokie actually has some real knowledgeable people working there and short of being the haven that is Bass Pro Shops, it ain't so bad.
Jay, I agree. I go to the one in the Glen because it's 5 minutes from my house. But I go to the Skokie store if I know they aren't going to have something.
One clerk told me that they receive one big stock of fishing stuff once a year. I wouldn't mind paying extra at shops like Shirleys if it wasn't for their f***ed up customer service.
yeah the guy with the hat and beard all the time at shirleys is an ass. He ignores me and doesn't help when he's obviously not doing anything. Get me those damn minnows!!!
Shirley's does have one guy working there that shouldn't be, but otherwise I have no problem going there. I usually only go there for minnows or stuff I can't get at Dick's. Then there's always BPS. 8)
Hey phil,
texas rig em
3/0 wide gap offset gamakatsu hook
and a 3/16 oz bullet weight
Drag em or shake or or jig em slowly by cover (i.e. fallen tree, rock boulders, or whatever you can see)

I don't know what size baits you got, but if they're small, then you can move down a 2/0 hook and a 1/8 oz bullet weight.

And yeah
You guys should see the Dick's down here in Urbana-Champaign

Fishin' sections the size of my dorm room....

hah hah :x
