Hello Forum.
New guy here. I just started doing some river fishing. I used to just fish ponds and lakes. I am interested in attempting to do some wading on the Fox. I was thinking about starting a bit south of the North Aurora Dam and moving upstream. I have never waded before, and plan to be very cautious, just attempting to get confident with footing, balance and reading the currents.
I have a couple questions:
Should I invest in waders? or are wading shoes and shorts acceptable? I would think the waders give me better protection from floating debris that could cut my legs. I also may be missing the whole point.
Is the section from the I88 to the North Aurora Dam shallow enough for wading safely for a noob? I was shore fishing just off the island park and the water looked to get deep in the middle but shallow and manageable on the banks ( just stepped out about 3 feet from shore to get the feel.) Was thinking of wading around the 2 islands just south of the dam.
BTW I caught a nice smallie off the shore last weekend with a craw crankbait. Never would have thought of going if it weren't for the forum. So much thanks.
