I know the trout opener is the 18th of October, so when will the lake close to allow fish to acclimate?

Also, are fish from Axehead edible? If not, where besides Lake Michigan are there some good edible fish?

(actually, that was 3 questions) :D

Usually the lake closes 1 week prior to the opening date. The fish are definitely edible, which is why they have the inland trout program. They are farm-raised trout that are stocked a few days before opening. From what I hear, they are quite tasty.

Note: the limit is 5 fish and this is heavily enforced. Also make sure you have a fishing license and an inland trout stamp.

And Make Sure you have some FUN!!

The fish Are more beautiful and picture worthy then they are table fair. But aren't that bad, Good way to keep "The Father Son tradition Alive" Leave the first day of the opener to our future anglers of the sport. And Adults Can Kill 'em the rest of the week :D :D :D :D :D
