Happy someone made this thread since I was eventually going to make one before spring.

How well do stocking foot waders really work? I'm worried they'll leak so I've looking at attached boot waders

So the "socking" foot style are actually like waterproof socks that slide into the boots... that makes more sense. I thought they were like normal pants that you had to somehow "seal" with the boot. I have to do some more research. A quality pair of waders will run me as much as a entry level kayak

Just realized I have an old pair of Canyoning shoes from when I was in Zion NP, one of the outfitters was selling their old shoes for like $15 and I decided to buy a pair instead of renting. Pretty sure I will be able to use them until I buy some real wading boots. Just need to find a quality pair of waders now.

Do you guys think these will work fine? They might be a little large but I think with the wader+sock they would fit fine. The bottoms are a little worn but I can screw some studs/felt in no problem

FYI, Llbean is getting rid of the lifetime no questions asked replacement policy. I would still recommend their waders based on quality and still good warranty. I always thought/knew that people abusing that policy would bring it to its end.
Waders purchased now will still be under lifetime or is it totally over?

Do people ever wade with shorts/normal pants and water shoes? Im sure theres a reason its not popular.. I plan on wading with waders but wonder if my buddy could just get a little wet

The answer is yes, but. There's plenty of times during the summer when I wade in shorts with canvas desert shoes. It's really refreshing during hot weather. But you have to be willing to take the risks presented by the truly shitty (literally) water we have in these parts.
Got it. I wouldn't venture into the DPR without waders, but if my buddy is okay with letting his c*k rot off, I'll let him

huh, I always heard it was only a problem in stagnant warm water, interesting
