Walleyes are often line shy, so leaders are not something you want to use. Their teeth are a little less jagged and more sporadic then pike, and they will rarely bite off even the smallest diameter line. I often go down to 4 lb braid when jigging or live bait fishing for them.

Doc, will you please tell the eyes that keep swallowing my circle hooks that they are not supposed to do that :lol:

I too never use leaders when walleye fishing. From what I know, leaders are sometimes used when trolling for monster walleye in places like Lake Erie, but generally, like Matt says, walleye can be line shy so it's best not to use a leader.
