Got off work early and hit up a local stretch of the river.Worked my way down and back again.Decided I was going to hit my starting point before I left. I passed a guy a little ways from it sitting near the trail smoking. Kept walking and got to the spot and started casting. I could still make out his blue hoodie through the trees back where he was. He got up and started walking the trail towards me. As he got closer to me he started making his way down the hill towards the bank. Up until that point I was looking out of the corner of my eye but I turned fully around and looked right at him. He stopped dead in his tracks just looking at me. He stayed there for a minute or so and went back up the hill. I continued casting and then heard noise behind me. He was on the trail up the hill but directly behind me. When I looked he stopped again and partially hid behind a tree. I casted again and heard movement again and now he was closer behind another tree. At this point I stay turned around and went in my bag for my water. He started walking some back the way he came and stopped. I grabbed my knife out of my pocket and walked up the hill while this dude just stood there watching me. Walked the trail back to my car looking back the whole way. Now there's a possibility this guy was up to nothing but I'd be willing to bet all my fishing gear he had something in mind. Sorry for the long post but be alert when you guys are out there solo. You never know who you'll run into. This topped the time I came across a guy washing himself in the river. At least that guy was just a harmless bum. Went 0-1 btw. Had 1 explode at the surface as I was getting ready to lift my crankbait out of the water. Completely missed and didn't chase anything else I threw there.

It was Golum in a hoodie. If I'm guessing where you were, I agree that there are some weirdos in those parts.
If you're thinking of where we ran into each other a cpl times it wasn't there. It seems all these stretches out here though have some weirdos lurking around and that's not even mentions all guys looking for manly love in the parking lot.

if you don't want to give out the exact spot thats fine but narrowing it down a little bit would benefit a lot of people on here that may wish to avoid that stretch. Also a more detailed description .... race, age etc. Thats the type of thing that warrants a call to authorities imo. yeah we all see the back in crew at preserves but when one of them is physically walking towards you then that deserves a call so the next poor sap doesn't get stabbed in the back....or the butt.

Nah that's just Aux he does that to learn spots.

I used to do the same thing.

Most Of us are pretty good casters I'd think if you put on a big presentation with 3 big treble hooks you could pretty much hook up a guy in the head in 1 or 2 casts. Just a thought.

Thanks for heads up weather is warming up and creepers are stirring

 I originally thought he was coming closer just to see if I catch anything but the way he stopped when I looked seemed weird though. Then playing peekaboo behind trees gave him away. If he was gonna pull some shit he should've just walked by me casually.

Wow, it's usually just teens partying in the EP woods... I grew up near there actually I kinda assumed it was all "dead water" 'round there. Anyhow, that is a creepy one. I prefer to stay out of that section.

I was up at the river near 47th and had a guy in camo walk right toward me and I tried to remain calm as he called out to me asking how I was doing... I was penned in between this guy and the river so there was really nowhere to go. He ended up being mostly harmless, thankfully. He said he was off his job forthe day and was taking pictures and produced a big lens cam. Watched me cast for a while saying he'd caught some pike in this area... then after a while he continued on up the river but not before asking me if I wanted a beer which I politely declined.

Last year near Oakton I had a guy follow me on the shore while I was in my canoe. He stayed in the woods aways but as I proceeded upstream I could catch glimpses of him when I would stop and anchor. I was not afraid of him because I was on the water while he was on shore but I thought that a nut like this could take a shot at me. He had a blue jacket on as well. Maybe that is standard stalker gear.
