Mother nature treated us to a beautiful morning for fishing before unleashing a wind and rainstorm on us just before noon... There was a short window for topwater right away and some key fish caught in the final hour after the rain... 68 fish were brought to the scales today from 23 anglers out on the water... A lot of fish caught, a lot of shorts caught, and we had a very competitive tournament to say the least... Great job to all the winners...

Was a good time as always. My partner, catchafew, definitely caught more than a few. We found a great frog bite that lasted for about 20 minutes in the morning and really helped us out. Was a great time, congrats to BPM and Ryan on the W

The Crew had a blast! I was surprised we placed with all the motor issues we were having. Our trolling motor took a beating
dragging all that dead wait. Had a great time though and the weather was great too until the storm. Enjoyed catching them on
my good ol' spinning reel with StankX green worms. Its been a while since i had to really slow it down. Hope to make the next one! Congrats to BPM and Winnebasschamp!

Congrats to Winnebasschamp & BassProMatuk and to Del & Ray on their wins and thank you Tony (Afalconsvick) for fishing with me and making some tough but what turned out to be the right choices to put some nice keepers in the boat. It was also good to meet a lot of you guys for the first time and see some familar faces as well. My second time fishing any type of tourney so I'm sure it can only go down hill from here for me but its always fun to fish with other bass anglers and share a few cold ones off the water.

WHAT WORKED WELL FOR US - FROGGING helped us out espcially in the morning and then in the afternoon and kept us in the chase. Seeing the popping of the bass in the cloudy, early moring in the visible weed flats on the North side of the lake was something we couldn't ignore and we tried to 'get while the getting was good'. A slow, popping and pause retreive seamed to work and we never really parked the frogs more then a few seconds during a cast on a single spot. Frog fishing is filled with emotional highs and lows and I think was intimidating and perhaps a big gamble to use as our main pattern for the entire day but it always gave us our best quality fish.

WHAT WORKED OK FOR US - WORMING with weightless Senko type and other worms in a Texas rig or wacky style did produce a few fast fish for us mostly on the edges of visible weed flats next to deep drop-offs however they were mostly fish below 14" and those that were keepers were still small. We felt we could get numbers with this pattern but how many would be keepers was the question.

WHAT DIDN'T WORK WELL AND/OR WE DIDN'T FISH MUCH - Though we both had other rods rigged with spinnerbaits, cranks, swim jigs, jerks and drop shots we only fished them sparingly and I don't think we picked up anything with them.

Crazy weather in the afternoon with that rain storm.

Here's a video of us catching 1 bass on a frog at 0:59.

Congrats to all the winners. It was a great turnout and definitely nice to see a lot of fish caught. BassCaster and I watched Catchafew nailing the frog bite in the morning, but it seems like the bass just didn't like our frogs as much. We caught all our fish on plastics. A lot of shorts, 2 bluegill and 1 crappie were also caught. Did anyone catch fish on anything other than plastics or a frog?

See you guys at the next one!!

Congats to winnebasschamp and baspromatuk, fantastic job guys!,and Ray on that big bass! and everybody else who fished, nice seeing you all again. I had a blast! even in that down pour.It definitly was a soft plastics day( senkos and frogs) as i watched my partner Jason nail one bass after another from most of the spots we hit all day long on that senko, nice job dude 15 fish - id be happy anytime! i'm sold on plastics(just got some learning to do)thanks for the tour around the lake
me i stuck to what i'm used to(mistake) and managed 2, one on a -1 and 1 on a chatterbait and finally got one to weigh in (my 1st in a tourney) :)
I really like the lake , great water clearity, i finally got to see what my lures look like underwater  think i might make the trip back up to improve my skills and might even join you guys again.
see you on the water!

Nice day for fishin for sure. We caught fish consistently throughout the day on every stretch we fished it seemed, other than the inside weedline. It didn't take long to realize we weren't going to get bit shallow. Absolutely saw nothing shallow where we were. All but 3 keepers came on senkos for us. The other 3 came on a frog. I threw a jig quite a bit here and there and only caught one short on it. Multiple times I threw a senko right where I'd just thrown a jig and caught a keeper so that didn't take long for me to stop throwing it... Thanks to BPM for getting my head in the game with throwing a senko as much as we both did, he definitely helped me establish the pattern and from there it was just boat control and patience. I'm liking the water quality/clarity out there and the weeds looked great. With it being so clear, and so hot already this year, I anticipate catching fish real deep as I have in the past out there. I just don't think what I've done before will work as well, as the average size of the fish seem a bit smaller than the past. There's going to be lot's more nail biter close tournaments out there this year which should make it fun!

Deep lake for event #3 Morning line Odds
=============================================
Winnebasschamp, 2:1, I think he's got the edge this round but he's going to have to show it.
Del, 3:1 , Spring time winner at Deep this year looks to cash another check.
Gangsta 73, 4:1, Winner in last at the world Famous Busse FP. Can he repeat? I vote Yes.
Ray 9:2, Cashed in the season opener and AOY Points leader todate. These CAST Crew players can fish.

Dang just missed the trifecta. i though Ryan would do well when I went
to Deep Thursday night and saw the gin clear water ;-)

Well done guys.

I had high hopes for Saturday as I am a sloow worm guy and
this type of lake/conditions setup good for that. Just could not get the big
ones to bite. Watch catchafew and Tony wack nice bass on a frog
right next to tyler and I. Tyler said they were going to be in the north west weeds
but they sure did not like our black spro frogs.

See you all next time in 3 weeks July 7th

Mike
