Went fishing for perch at Gilson Park (Wilmette) this morning. Arrived at 5am and fished until 6:30am. The weather was nice and the sunrise was awesome. Managed to catch a 13" yellow perch on a Kastmaster (sorry no pics) and 4 other small perches on crappie rig with minnows. Surprisingly, there were only 2 other people.
Also saw some HUGE carp in there. There were about 10, 30"+!
Hopefully the action will get better.

When I went perching I saw a lot of perch, but none of them were worthy of catching because of their size. I also managed to see what were pretty big suckers/carp by the shore feeding off of the algae on the rocks. I tried to get their attention but it wasn't working. Just this past weekend my friend fished the Illinois river and he caught some giant white Amurs/Grass Carp. If you never caught one of these than you don't have any idea how powerful they are. I'm heading out this weekend and hopefully I'll get on top of some action. :)
