I dragged my but out of bed early and went out to the Busse WWD. It was about 32 degrees, no wind, sun just rising. There was one other fisherman there already when I arrived around 6:30am or so. He seemed to be having one of those days where his equipment wouldn't cooperate...i hate those days.
Anyway, I stayed until about 8:45am fishing close to the grates. By they time I left, there were quite a few folks there. I only managed one fish on a 5" plastic worm, and that was within the first 20 or 30 minutes before the crowds showed. It was a bass, probably 11 or 12 inches or so, so not much to speak of...but still better than a sharp stick in the eye. A couple of kids were picking panfish from above the grates, and I think they managed one really small bass while I was there. I saw a guy on the other side lose what looked like a nice bass (big splash) after it came unhooked. I snapped 2 pics of the little guy I caught (attached).
Basscaster, the water levels were definitely high...up probably 14 to 18 inches...so those dirt humps we'd normally be standing on were submerged by 2 to 4 inches.
