A fly fisherman I know down in Georgia has been struggling for over a year to find work and keep things going financially.

In the mean time he's been trying a variety of things to make a few bucks with his passion for all things fly fishing.

He recently started making what he's calling Zazzy Pops. As he says:

Each Zazzy Pop popper is a unique creation made one at a time - and no two Zazzy Pop poppers are exactly alike!

They're pretty good looking poppers.

Head over to OwlJones.com and see what he has to say about his poppers.

He's sending me a couple to try out and review. I've also figured out a way to use them on my light spinning gear, so this could be interesting.

Those look cool. I wish your friend good luck.

I'm curious to see how you use them on spinning gear. I've had some success using flies on spinning gear to target panfish. Mostly just with a split shot and sometimes bobber above the fly but I've also tried drop shotting. Not sure about a popper though. It might be better for him to make a weightier version for spinning/casting gear. They do look pretty.

Since I fish down stream on flowing water, the plan is to just let the current take it down and then bring it back up. He's sending one of his Big Sliders for that. I'll be trying that on the Fox.

On the creeks, I'll be trying one of his Pencil Poppers. Same thing, let it float down stream then pop it back up. Not worth using top waters on the Fox, for me anyway. Water clarity sucks.

If you've been paying attention to Tenkara fishing, I call mine Spinkara® Fishing.

If you are starving and walk into a dark room and smell the aroma of fresh grilled steak wafting through the air and hear the sizzle of the juices dripping from it hitting a hot griddle, you're telling me you wouldn't find your way to it in a hurry?

:moresarcasm:

I bet if Producto made a topwater grub you'd give it a shot...

And it would get constantly missed and never wind up in your mouth.

I could lie to you like others do and tell you the top water bite on the Fox is HOT, only failing to tell you I'm not really on the Fox, but a quarter mile up a crystal clear creek that just happens to run into the Fox.
