I was just wondering what the craziest thing is that you guys have caught other than fish? Garbage off the bottom, turtles or frogs? This year I have caught:

Pantyhose from the DPR
2 frogs in the dpr
Snapping turtles
My brother caught a crayfish the other day.

So how about you guys? :)

A Loon years ago while in MN. The Loon was released un-harmed. He struck a crankbait and luckily only one hook was in the side of its mouth. I thought it was going to be worse the way it thrashed. We really couldn't cut the line because chances of it surviving are slim, so we removed the hooks and off she or he went. I was really suprised though, it felt like a hard hit about half way through my retrieve. Oh wait, it was a hard hit!

My father had a loon follow in his musky bait trying to eat it. He figure eighted till he realized it was a bird and not a fish.
What does it mean to figure eight in fishing terms? I have an idea but I just want someone to confirm it. Thanks!

I caught one of those frogs and the pantyhose. We kind of shared the turtle though because you brought him on my line while i was in the bathroom. :)

About 15 years ago I caught a 6ft. alligator on a Arbogast Jitterbug. (I grew up in and lived most of my life in south Louisiana) And believe it or not, I got my lure back.

3 years ago, I caught a sea gull at Mallard, off the south pier, on a topwater Rapala skitter walk... Thing dove right down and got it and then up he went... I brought him back down to the water and the chaos began... 10 minutes later, the bird was up to the pier going completely berzerk screaming and squawking bloody murder... Eventually another gentlemen and I worked the bait out of his wing... Needless to say I went to a spinnerbait the rest of the evening...

An unopened can of beer from 20+ years ago.

It was a can of Old Style with the peel-tab. I hooked the lip of the can with a jig while walleye fishing in Canada. I didn't drink it.

Same trip we caught a stringer with 3 good sized walleye still on there, and alive. I think we got that one trolling Rapalas...... 8)

No idea who it belonged to, when we are up there you are lucky if you see one other boat from outside your group the whole week.

I caught the book fishing for dummies  I caught a 12 pound snapping turtle. And my favorite is when I was fishing salt creek a while back sitting on my wal-mart folding chair. Had my pole in a pole holder while I was carving a stick. I watched my pole fly down the river. 2 weeks later while fishing a little further down stream snagged something was my pole no lie. Hook was still on so the big guy was able to loose the hook. Had to throw away the reel all rusted but still use the pole.

A wolf river rig with a fish on it still.

I was pulling fly's in the river in Winneconne, and i "set the hook" on a tick bite, or so i thought, and haulled the fish up.

I reeled it up and couldn't figure out why my fly's were loose. I hooked the broken off rig through the top eye of the three way. Couldn't do it again if you gave me a million tries

A bat while I was nightfishing. It had the line wrapped around its neck like a noose. I also had a nice fish on at the same time. During the course of events, I did not realize that it was a bat on my line. I thought it might be weeds. I reeled it up to the rod tip and grabbed it. It felt squishy in my hands and I finally got my headlamp on it and saw what it was. We were fishing for mondo walleyes and the fish felt nice, so I ended up squeezing its neck and popping its head off to free it from the line. After all that nastiness I picked up the slack and fish was gone. Still makes for a nice story. I washed my hands extra well after that incident.
