I stopped by at Montrose yesterday after work and saw a few small coho that were caught on powerlines. So this morning I went out for the first time in 2012. My plan was to be there around 9 am and stay until 2 pm, I had to be at work by 3PM. Arrived at Montrose just after 10 am, the wind was too strong and the waves too high to fish on the lake side, so I tried my luck in the harbor. I used powerline, 25 minnows floating 8-9 feet under surface. Took me a while to set up, I didn't want to shoot my weight in the harbor, so I walked all the way down to the end of one dock and threw my wight as far as I could, then brought the line back to the shore. I left at 1:45 pm, there were a few other guys in the harbor, some powerlining, some using rods, didn't see anyone else catching fish. Got this female brown trout around 11:30 all the way in the middle of the harbor (about 200 feet in). She was 24", 5lb 5 oz. She had only a fistful of regular size eggs left inside and a lot of tiny little ones.
