How I spent my teens.. do tell more.
I'll just assume you're kidding. :D
Usually I am. But this time not. Played guitar seriously for 7-8 yrs, garage bands, VFWs, dive venues. Favorite was the fireside bowl on Fullerton near California. Was a underground music haven for a while. Now it's back to just bowling there.

Hmm...wonder how long it will take Arbogast to notice & send a cease & desist letter.

Re my rocker days, I was in 2 bands. 1 was in high school - we were a cover band, played teen clubs, school sock hops, etc. 2nd was in college. Cover band too but that time we had a horn section so we did a somewhat different selection.

I have what audiologists call, 'discrimination loss'. It means when I'm in a really noisy place I can't hear you even if you're standing in front of me screaming. I blame it on the bands plus the dozens (hundreds) of rock concerts I went to. So it goes.

Spent 3 hours at the Schaumburg show. Looked around for something new, something I dont already have, and something that I will actually catch a bunch of fish on.

That's a killer jitterbug looking bait.

I did good. Kept to a minimal budget and Mike and I got a big pencil popper for free from Daiwa. Woo got there too late :( Also got some lens cleaner & anti-fog paste and it's basically worthless. Hey, if any of you come across the guys in the booth selling lens cleaner and anti-fogging sprays and pastes tell them it doesn't work for anti-fogging. Should have checked as soon as I walked out instead of waiting until I got home. Great finally getting to meet Crankybass-Robert...now he bought some stuff, lol

The sunglass cleaner booth guys were relentless. Walked past twice and had to turn the same guy down twice. When I was a youngster we would 'paintball' in the woods. Fog was a major issue with the masks/goggles. Already tried every anti-fog in the book, none work.

I got one! must have been "just" in time haha.
I was really good, I only bought the same Jerkbait Heddon posted and that's it. Compiled a nice shopping list, though.

I did the same. The only thing we found mildly effective was to spit on the lens and buff it out. Saying mildly effective is not to be taken lightly lol.

Those anti-fog guys were brutal.

It was a real pleasure to see Woo, and to meet you, Heddon, and Mike(son)! I enjoyed the humor, and the tips. I did make some good purchases, including the new NIRTECH Nines Optics polarized sunglasses. Now that I have contacts, I can afford to buy two or three pairs of these instead of one pair with a $$$$ because of the prescription. The workshops given by Brandon Palaniuk and Capt. Ralph Steiger were really well presented and helpful. They were well attended by young and older anglers, with questions and note taking.

Most likely I am going to go tomorrow to check everything out. Making the move to Colorado Springs soon and need to see if I can score any good deals on some fly gear since it seems LMB are non existent there :(
I told you! No bass, sheesh, that's just un-American...though we do look forward to photos of 6 & 8" brook trout. I didn't look it up but are there any reservoirs near where you'll be? Because I've heard some those have some big browns, rainbow and lake trout, as well as Kokanee salmon in them. That would be fun and I'm sure the scenery will be a tad nicer than what you'll see around suburban Chicago. Good luck finding any fly vendors at this show. Fly fishing guides and lodges yes, but don't recall seeing any fly rod or fly tackle stuff.

Went, wandered for a couple hours, didn't buy a damned thing. Sat in on a seminar on drop shoting. Interesting - think I'll give it a try at Busse or Beck when it warms up. Tested out some rods but nothing really knocked my socks off especially since the high-end stuff doesn't seem to come in 2 pieces.

Stopped at 2 fly fishing booths & asked if they knew when the fly only C&R dates are for Apple River Canyon & White Pines are. Nope. So I stopped at the DNR table on the way out & asked them. There were 3 people from the fisheries dept & 2 cops. They all just sort of looked at me like, "what?" Finally one cop called somebody named 'Taze' & asked. When he got off the phone he said, "this is really confusing". Well, yeah. They all really wanted to help but jeez not really that hard of a question. Unbelievable.

On the way there I stopped by Arlington Pool to check things out. FREAKING COLD!! Nobody home except some mallards & a gaggle of geese. Steam rising off the water made for a dramatic view. WWD is doing its job.

Scott, my very first post here was a day drop shotting on Busse. It's normally considered a clear water presentation but what the hell, it worked when other presentations didn't. I just used darker larger drop shot baits. What worked better than 5" GP senkos (0 fish on them) were drop zone 5" B52's in junebug and melon pepper. They look amazing in the water with light twitches. I Nose hooked them on 1/0 & 2/0 drop shot hooks. They also have inexpensive lead and tungsten drop shot weights and allow small quantity weight buys. If you're interested in picking some stuff up they're running a 10% off sale code: boousps (must have an issue with the usps)

Although it seems we have stocker trout every spring and fall, it isnt always a 100% thing for all the usual bodies of water. When the hatcheries inform the state of what they have and when it will be ready, then the decisions start to fall in order. After that the logistics of who's delivering it and when.

As usual, you probably wont get your exact dates till about a month before hand.

Good to know - thanks. I'm thinking Beck is probably the better site for this.
