Unsure of its length or weight, but I am fairly confident its the best walleye I ever caught. Easily bigger than the 25" I caught last week. My guesstimate is 26-28", maybe a touch over 7? Snapped a couple pics & let it swim. Thought about a mount for a second, but nah, Ill get a bigger 1.
It ate a 5" brown grub of undetermined make on an 1/8 jig underneath a dam on the WI river. Decided to stop by for a midday cast or 3 at a spot I tore up the smallies pretty good at last night & caught this guy on the 3rd cast. I was pleased!

I got another one this a,m. :)
26 & 1/4".
Was a little shorter but a little heavier than the other 1. Nobody around to take a decent pic. Released a 23", too, but got 2 just barely under the 20" slot to bring home for dinner tonight.
Also caught a pretty nice bass & a few other smaller 1s

Last nights fish were caught swimming a 5"black yamamoto grub on 1/8 head. This a.m.'s fish all were caught snap-jigging 4-5" minnow baits on 1/4 heads
Tonights dinner

Great catches, you are killing it in your new territory.
Both your big ones look like they have a lesion on their side, any idea why? Maybe just battle scars...
Thanks.
Not 100% positive if they were lesions or battle scars. Most fish you pull out of the rivers seem to have beauty marks from brushes with the large musky population.

Since my last posting, I have caught 1 more 26" eye that flipped out of my hands & back into the river as I was getting a pic. Released 3 others in the slot (20-24").
Last night I was fishing with a local, on my 2nd cast got a massive strike on a #10 husky jerk. After a lengthy battle in the current we see a massive head & see what was easily the largest musky this guy has ever caught. Eventually I got it up on the shallow rock flat along shore on my GLX MBR842 w/15lb mono leader. When my new friend & fishing partner saw it, he immediately went wading to try & get it up on shore. Eventually the musky thrashed aound enough to pull the hooks & broke out of his grip. My fishing partner, who coordinates several of the local musky tourneys in town, said it was a 47-48" fish. Woulda been cool to get the pic, but it wasnt to be. Oh well.

I want to scrap my summer vacation and just come up and fish with you.
Packages are available!

But more seriously, anytime FM.

Had to play "guide" this weekend for some non-fishing kin folk. Was kinda tough to make anything happen while being constantly chased off by the passing rain. What was tougher yet was trying to get a meaningful cast on my own behalf while trying to keep up with 2 "anglers" who seemingly couldnt make 3 casts in a row without losing 1 of my jigs :x .
Anyway, had to run to the store in the early a.m., & while driving back I thought I got time for 5 casts (5casts? Yeah, right. That'll happen. 8) ). Never got that far. Caught this guy on cast#2. It smoked a 1/8 bucktail jig swirling in the whirl. Snapped a pic, let it swim off, & then I drove home!
23"

Gave it a solid 1.5 hours this evening. Had 3 bites & these are 2 of them
A fat smallie Id guess in the 3-3.5 range

& this slot walleye (22")

Missed my 3rd bite.
Both caught snap jigging 5" triggerX minnows on 1/4oz heads off the bottom in the deep slack pockets alongside the main flow.

This is getting fun :D

Fishing has been a little slower the last few days. Earlier in the week I had been not getting great #'s, but some really nice sized walleyes.as the week progressed. The smallies have been fewer than in weeks past, but again, a few really nice fish. Also started hitting topwaters (or, I just finally spent some time throwing them) this week. Got a couple 19"s + a few other nicer fish, just not any big #'s of fish...............yet. Might have to bust out the waders

Went (keeper) walleye-less in my short late afternoon outing earlier today, & that stung a little, + . It was just like Marsellus Wallace told Butch in the movie pulp fiction:
"You might feel a slight sting, thats pride f-ing with you....."

I had been sitting next to a peaceful campfire for most of the evening & @ about midnight, was contemplating putting it out & going to sleep. Screw that! The day is NOT done i thought to myself. If those m-f'ers arent going to snap in daylight for me, maybe they will at night.
Headed to a dam about 5 miles from the house on the tomahawk river. Figured Id give it about 20 minutes, lose 3 or 4 jigs, tell myself Im an idiot for thinking this was a good idea, & THEN go home & go to bed....
Been catching a decent eye here&there on husky jerks after dark. Started off throwing a #10 clown HJ, & got a decent strike that wound up being a nice 18" walleye.

Threw the HJ some more but it received no more love. Recalling a couple of outings a few weeks ago, I went & got my UL rig out of the car & began doing my best to work a 1/32 jig 12'deep in a moderate current, without being able to see the line. :x The very 1st time I was confident I had reached the bottom, in the slack, I got a "tick".
IMG_20190630_052359.jpg

Just shy of 22" & was a nice little battle on the 781UL. Threw it some more, but got pretty fed up with trying to keep that tiny jig down without seeing my line. Went digging thru my makeshift tackle bag looking for a specific plastic, but found something matted up & stuffed under the liner. A BLACK HAIR JIG! A 1/16oz black/purple craft fur creation.Thought I had lost my last 1 well over a week ago.
Well, my 2nd cast on the craft fur got violently greeted by a 15.5" walleye which was keeper #2 on the redemption outing. Started getting a steady pick of 10-13" eyes, & an occasional small smallie. Got 1 more slot fish that was 21" & went back. Didnt take long to get #3, & after that kept on catching/releasing fish for a while. Threw back another limit of keepers & a handful of small fish.

Went home with my 3 for my weekly walleye dinner void of the sting that gripped my soul at the beginning of the outing!
