Thanks guys for picking up where I left off.

Talked to Dale at length about this on Monday. He's lovin' what you guys are sending. Sam, he appreciates the other species reports you send, especially the flatheads. He's glad to be getting reports from all sections of the river now.

Hope you can keep it up.

Talked to Adam about this too, even if you're getting skunked or not getting out much, he wants to know.

Not every day is a good day.

Dale's Fox Reports with Adam, Al and Sam.

Alex Kiscellus of Wonder Lake, now I know why you go by Al-Quatics.

Same reason I've gone by Ken G all these years. I got tired of all you non-Polocks butchering the hell out of Gortowski.

Was happy to finally make the time to send him a report. Have a lot of respect & admiration for all that Dale does for us outdoorsman & our resources.

My old man called me first thing in the morning to say my name was in the print version. If he knew how to turn a computer on I'd have him read the extended online version.

We'll see if life allows me to keep up with sending them weekly. Heading north to the cabin this weekend for some spring cleaning between coaching baseball & work. If I make it out at all, it will be a miracle...

When I quit sending them about a month ago, I got a call from my dad...How come you're name's not in the paper?

He was the main reason I did it for 12 years. Gave him bragging rights with his friends. They'd always call to say they saw "your kids" name in the paper. I'm a 56 year old "kid".

Send them when you can Al, never was any pressure from him.

Ha - yeah, well, I'll send him what I get. Which for the last little bit has been skunked, or near-skunked. But I don't have as many trips to report lately either. Hopefully that will change.

It's really disturbing to know that probably most of you could be my kids. Far as I can tell, I think younger then most of you. :p

If things didn't work out in my favor a long time ago, I could have a 37 year old kid, if you catch my drift.

Sam, that March we had got us all thinking it was going to keep going all uphill. Welcome back to normal. Hopefully we got a long spring and summer ahead of us yet. Do what you can, he's enjoying everything.

Don't complain yet about the kid. I am 76 and still called LITTLE GEORGE by the relatives that are still left. Just be glad you are still here so that your dad can still call you kid. :D

Bill, I just put up a post on my blog about a week ago saying how lucky I was to have both my parents around. My family is the only ones I allow to call me Kenny. Some one outside family once tried it. They said I shot them a look that basically said I wanted to see them dead.

I didn't even know I had such a look. I'd use it more often if I could figure that one out. :D

Tell Dale to stop treating the DPR as a second class citizen...... just joking, Dale Bowman stories and articles is my favorite part of reading the Suntimes and his internet stuff is even more contemporary and detailed.. However, I tend to notice when his fishing reports are in print in the newspaper, the DPR is usually left out :( Cooling lakes, wisconsin waters all included in print but not the DPR? I have seen it in there once in a while, but it tends to be left out a lot.. Oh well, thank god I heard of the "In-a-net" so i can read the DPR reports on his website, but a lot older cats just read the papers and it would really be a feel good story to them to read about the River in their yard..

The DPR reports are too sporadic. Have you been sending him anything he can use?

There's not even anything on Stray Casts this week. If he was sent something, he would have put it up.

Andy doesn't fish around here anymore and all he does is summarize what others are doing. Dan has always been inconsistent in sending him reports, but I'll give Dan the benefit of the doubt, he's a busy boy. Brookfield Angler, well, I don't know what his excuse is except that he might have got all tangled up in the line while playing with his new fly rod. :D

If you have reports you can send him, do it. He'd greatly appreciate it. He doesn't like to have gaps in coverage either.

Glad to see the Fox reports are continuing from quality sources. Those are big waders to fill in Ken's absence.

As for the DPR reports, we have great coverage on that river here, anyone is always welcome to send in the reports.

Dan and I set it up so we would alternate weeks. Dan has been busy with his boys and making tackle so isn't fishing it as much as he would like to.

I am limited on the amount of time I have to fish due to the little guy and wife. I typically get one good outing a week and maybe a short hour or so as well. Much of that hasn't been spent on the DPR as I have been busy exploring other bodies of water.

I think that I should use this as an excuse to fish more

I've been contemplating giving up on sending Dale my BOTW shots to start sendind a fishing report. Usually if I bother him for a year or so, he'll put one of my shots in the suntimes. Anywho, I usually fish the river about 25 days a month, usually about an hour or so an outing. Granted I only fish my Ohare stretch, so no smallies or eyes like the guys get into south of big Hoffman Dam. If it rains a whole lot I might be out there a little less because the Des Plaines is usually flowing down street when that happens which makes for sand bagging parties here in River Grove. Didnt think anyone would want to hear about all the little pike I catch everyday or as I call them "sewer muskies". Reports on the centrally located Ohare stretch would have to make DPR reports more appealing to the masses in the city rather than reading about fishing near Joliet or Lake County (which I still enjoy) . Theres a good possibility a report from this section could be pretty popular. Even though the fishing here is not the greatest, the DPR is the closest option for millions of Cook County residents.

Which is why I stopped after three years, or only do it when I get out, which has been rare since last year. Dale knows, which I've told him, and he's cool with it.

I think it's unnecessary when three different people give a report to use, but what's good is it's coming from three different points of view.... Accurate or not.

As we all know movement on a river changes day to day... Every bit of info is helpful in that scenario IMO. Plus one guy could get skunked fishing one section one way and report that, another guy could have done well another way... Two reports same area, different outcomes... It'd help.

Some day they'll grow up, you're wife will want you out of the house and your kids won't care. Then you get to fish even more.

Definitely do this. He's enjoying getting the Fox reports from further north, something I could never do. I could have summarized what guys here were doing, but I'd rather they do it themselves and get noticed. He wants as much coverage all up and down rivers as he can get for the very reasons you point out, so anything you send him will be appreciated.

If he already knows you, even better. Otherwise I'm going to be getting a phone call asking what I think of you. Don't know enough to say one way or the other.
