Hit the Des Plaines River from shore today from 2-4pm. Very pleasant weather. Not too cold and no wind. Only brought a couple of xps 5" suspending minnow lures. I really like these as they don't run that deep and have nice action. Slow retreive with a few twitches included is was what worked for me today. I Went 2/3 on pike and the one I missed was unfortunately the biggest. Fortunately, the other two I landed were pretty nice size also. Spooked a few other fish as well that were in glued to the bank. First one landed was around 26-28" and the other one was around 30-32" guesstimate. The bigger one really smoked the lure and got the entire thing in it's mouth. Nice to finally land a couple after missing quite a few this month.
