Got out to the axe after work. It was mid to upper 60's i think. maybe still low 70's. fished from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Decent amount of anglers out there. Went 3 for 4 on bass. still trying to get the hang of how hard i need to set the hook when texas rigging all of my plastics. so, one got away right up by shore as i was ready to lift her out. naturally, it was the most sizeable fish of the night. No monsters-of the 3 i caught, one was 10" and 2 were 11". All fish on the 3 1/2" rainbow trout sluggos. Becoming one of my go to baits lately when the bigger plastics aren't producing.

thats a good day for the axe. i consider that lake to be the opposite of beck. its got numbers but no size. beck doesnt have as many bass but they're much bigger.

yeah, a buddy pulled one out last year that was about 14 to 15" and pretty fat. probably the best i've seen out there. but, i only started fishing there last August.

What color sluggos do you suggest? I would think trout colored but i dont think the bass really eat that much trout because they are all bigger than the bass that come out. Any suggestions?

Also what sized hook for a 3 inch sluggo?

i was using rainbow trout color for these guys i caught. i'm still just using small 2 1/2 to 3 1/2" stuff. any color will probably do honestly. not sure what size hook, i think gamakatsu 1/0.
