I haven’t had any fresh cut bait so that could be one of the factors. Chicken and frozen menhaden is what i have been using. Still and all its great to get a tug and even these little cats will bury the rod in the holder making it difficult to get the rod up and out.
I had a short flurry of activity yesterday. Hooked up on a cat and could see a number of fish down there so I tossed out a marker. While I was fighting the fish I noticed my marker wasn’t unwinding. Pedaled over to it with the fish on the line and was able to get the marker line to release. Fought and landed the one and stayed in the area for a bit. Caught one more and had two other take downs but those didn’t get any hooks.
Not a sniff on the chicken yesterday, the cut menhaden was the ticket.
